We all love yogurt in our house and I was reading up on the different electric yogurt making machines and really found it to be both beneficial from a money standpoint and from a health standpoint as well. I like to take my favorite organic yogurt, add organic whole milk to it and make more yogurt that I can add different fruits, grains, seeds, granola and whatever else I want to add to it to make a whole lot more.
As I was researching these, I really found them to be easy-to-use and very fun in the process, much like the soft serve ice cream makers I looked at. When I mentioned these took couple of my friends they had no idea they even existed so I thought writing a little article on them would help bring more awareness to these exceptionally helpful kitchen gadgets.
Features, Functions, Etc.:
The majority of the yogurt makers I looked at were pretty similar when it came to how they work and their overall design, as you can see below with the three other yogurt making machines I found online. There were two different types of machines and they only differed in the way they were able to make the yogurt. Nearly all of them could take milk and live cultures to make a custom yogurt with no preservatives, additives or coloring agents and then other units could do this as well as make more yogurt from a store-bought yogurt because of the two-in-one functionality.
These were pretty basic in design and usually only had a couple of buttons to them, one to control the amount of time and a start button. Some offered more digitalized displays which use the plus and minus symbol to add or subtract the amount of time you wanted to set the machine for but nothing super fancy as far as functionality.
How They Work:
- STEP 1: Measure out the correct amount of milk, live cultures or prepackaged yogurt, depending on which method you are using
- STEP 2: Add the live cultures to the milk and stir together
- STEP 3: Pour the mixture into the machine
- STEP 4: Set the time on the machine, as instructed by the recipe/directions
- STEP 5: Hit the start button and wait until the machine's time has expired and enjoy!
Yogurt Makers - Reviews & Price:
Most of these electronic yogurt makers were under the $100 mark, making them affordable for just about anyone. Don't forget to take into consideration the amount of money you save by actually making it yourself and how much more healthy and delicious it would actually be on top of all of that. The average price range for these was somewhere between $20 and $50 though, for the most part.
A lot of these yogurt makers had really great reviews, nearly every single model in fact which is quite impressive and pretty rare. Point in case, you can really go with any model you want probably have something that's good you're pretty good job making homemade yogurt. Good luck and let me know how you do and if you already own one and like your machine, let me know about it in the comments below, thanks!
