When stumbling around looking for the next innovative idea, I saw these air fryers which essentially use no oil and instead use an overhead heating element of some sort that cooks your food instead. Basically like a small oven, at least that is what it reminds me of.
These air fryers are another one of those things I didn't really know existed and when I stumbled across it I thought it was pretty cool product that a lot of people might be interested in. I know I was, just because it would come in handy for a lot of the quick snack items that we typically make here, convenience and a healthier alternative is always a plus in my book.
Options For Oil-Free Fryers:
These have a couple of different features integrated into them, depending on which model you are looking at but the basic overall design and functionality is pretty much the same across the spectrum. Usually one knob or button controls the temperature and the other one controls the overall cooking, much like a toaster oven does.
Some have digital displays and others have analog type displays, where you merely turn a dial, like we have on a lot of other appliances. I gathered a couple of pictures below to give you an idea about some of the different designs that are out there. They also come in many different colors and styles to match most kitchen decor.
How They Work:
- STEP 1: Plug the machine in to an electrical outlet
- STEP 2: Place the food into the container or bin
- STEP 3: Set the heat level according to the package's recommended heat settings
- STEP 4: Set the timer and wait for it to finish cooking
- STEP 5: Eat the food!
Air Fryer Prices, Sizes, Etc.:
These range in price pretty significantly and were anywhere from $60-$150 in price. The majority of the models were somewhere in the $60-$100 range though. The models that have digital displays are typically $20-$40 more than once with analog controls and price really affected what size of unit you would prefer to have. They have smaller ones that are typically made for one or two people in and they have larger ones that will accommodate 4 to 6 people.
These air fryers would be a nice addition for somebody looking to have some of their favorite fried foods at that without using oil and it would actually save a little bit of time and convenience in the kitchen because it is basically a "set and forget" type of appliance.
